Today I wish to speak on the subject of Contentment. As believers in Christ we should be a content people!
Benjamin Franklin said: "Contentment makes poor men rich; discontentment makes rich men poor."
Did you that discontentment changed the world forever?
When God put Adam and Eve in the Garden I believe they were originally completely content in their lives. They lived in a perfect world and had a perfect relationship with God but their state of contentment completely changed.
How did their contentment change? It changed after Eve listened to the lies of the Serpent which resulted in them eating of the fruit of the tree.
We as Christians can learn to be content in our SITUATIONS, V11.
We as Christians can learn to be content with our SUBSTANCE, V12.
We as Christians need to be content in HIS STRENGTH v13.
Now we need to remember Paul's circumstances when he writes this letter.
Paul is a Prisoner of Rome, he is in chains, he is not sure whether the Romans will let him live or whether they will kill him and yet Paul has perfect peace.
Paul's times were uncertain but he was certain who held His future. He was not just a prisoner of the Romans or the prisoner of circumstances, he was a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
