Indeed God has a plan for world history and it is unfolding right before our eyes. God's plan is best seen in a dispensational understanding of the Scriptures. What makes a person a dispensationalist is not how many eras they might recognize, but rather the core beliefs that the church is NOT the replacement of Israel, a consistently applied, literal, historical interpretation of the Scriptures, and a belief that God's ultimate purpose is to display His glory in the world. In thinking through the Scriptures and how God deals with people in differing ways, one can deduce seven stewardship arrangements: Innocence, Conscience, Human Government, Promise, Law, Grace, and finally the Kingdom. The dispensations are built on top of one another with some aspects carrying over to the next. The ultimate fulfillment of world history will take place when Jesus establishes His kingdom here on earth. The various dispensations do not represent different ways of salvation for salvation has always been by faith in God, never by works. We begin unfolding God's plan by looking at the age of "innocence" or Adam pre-fall. God gave Adam certain responsibilities along with a test. Adam failed the test by eating the forbidden fruit. As a result judgment came, but along with the judgment was grace with the promise of a future Redeemer!
