“ Food for thought ” According to Thayer's Greek Lexicon one of the meanings of sanctify is to separate from things profane and to dedicate to God, to consecrate and so render inviolable; a) things and b) persons. This is a process for us and one we must take seriously if we are to obey the commands of our King, Lord, Master, and Saviour. In 1 Corinthians 7:14 even nonbelievers are separated out from the world and brought into a saving influence by marriage to a believer. We can't separate ourselves out in the sense that God does when He saves us, but we can separate ourselves out to His service. I think we get to hung up on thinking of a word in one way and not understanding how it can be used in different context. We should separate ourselves from this world and separate ourselves to the Truth of the Gospel, but we should not separate ourselves from believers who are our brethren in Christ simply because we do not understand how words are used and then come to a conclusion that they don't believe the Word of God. I confess my understanding is lacking, but the Word of God can be understood with much sincere prayer and study. Spirit and Truth must both be present to understand God's Word. I have a heavy ache in my heart for true believers to have a better understanding of God and of each other.
