if we are truly in the last of the last days, why would we not sound the alarm? If we know that we are ready we will be ever watchful. As a thief in the night, the coming of Christ will be a surprise to the lost, to those who are not ready. Our intimacy with our Father is essential to us being watchful and ready. We see that prayer and the Word go hand-in-hand. Three different examples of preparedness are highlighted in these verses. We see the an accountable steward and an anticipating servant, both of whom are vigilant, watchful and prepared for His return. In the third instance we see an apathetic sinner who believes there is still plenty of time to get ready, not expecting that judgment may come at any moment.
