When Paul met the Living Christ, he learned all we need to know about the glorious doctrine of God's election — "Chosen in Christ."
In the very act of his conversion Paul experienced the power of God and learned the sovereignty of God. "You are a chosen vessel," said the messenger of God to Paul (read Acts 9:15 and Acts 22:14).
For Paul, election was the heart of the Gospel of salvation in Christ the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Paul didn't learn this theology 40 years after he had made an Arminian "decision," but he learned it when Christ was revealed in him as Lord and Saviour. And he immediately submitted to the truth, for the heart of reveiving Christ or any truth of God's Word is hearty submission — and Paul never got over it!
This sermon is somewhat similar to others Bro. Barnard preached on Paul's conversion — yet it is different and has not been circulated widely by tape. Preached for Pastor Henry Mahan and the good folks at 13th Street Baptist Church in Ashland, KY, this tape was old and has been in storage and thus not high in audio quality. However the message is vital — listen first to the audio clips and this will whet your appetite for the entire message by God's servant, the good evangelist of the 20th Century, Brother Rolfe P. Barnard.
