The Book of Revelation is a confusing book for many. A question was raised last week regarding the structure of the book, and so the extended introduction to this sermon will seek to explain how the whole book fits together, especially chapters 6 through 19. What drives the narrative are the judgments: Seal, Trumpet, and Bowl judgments. Between these judgments are chapters that provide supplemental information that fills in the details of what happening here on earth and in heaven during the various judgments. The timeline moves from the rapture of the church (Rev. 4), to the Seal Judgments (Rev. 6), the Trumpets (Rev. 8-9) to the Bowls (Rev. 16), followed by the collapse of the Antichrists empire (Rev. 17-18), the second coming of Christ (Rev. 19), the Millennial Kingdom (Rev. 20), and then the New Heavens and new Earth (Rev. 21-22). After looking at the structure of Revelation, we consider the first four Trumpet Judgments which target the earth and its environment, causing ecological catastrophes of a magnitude never before seen on earth. But with each focused judgement, God gives mankind another opportunity to repent and to call upon the name of the Lord in order to be saved.
