We live in an informational age! It is absolutely amazing how much information is available to us at our fingertips. None of us can know it all. Oh there are those who think they know it all, but we find them to be usually obnoxious and quite ignorant in certain areas. The truth is: No one knows everything, except for one person-- God! The Scriptures reveal that God knows everything, both the actual and potential, completely and immediately from eternity. God knows the end of all things and the perfect means to achieve those ends. David, in Psalm 139, contemplates God's perfect knowledge. God knows us intimately and personally. He knows what we do each moment of our day, and why we do it. He knows what we do in private as well as public. God even knows what we are thinking before we express it in words. God knows everything about us. The fact that we know that God knows everything about us will have a practical effect upon us. It will either comfort or convict us. It cuts out any pretense we might have with God. We can be ourselves for God cannot be fooled. But ultimately it produces in us genuine awe or worship of God. Plus the fact that God knows the day of our birth and the day of our death--and every day in between--and the fact that all of our days are written in His book before we were born--enables us to trust Him as we experience this pandemic. Our lives indeed are in His hands-- the God who knows everything!
