Most troubles come suddenly. In one moment all is calm; in the next moment that calm is shattered. Such was the trouble that came to the disciples of Jesus when a violent squall arose on the Sea of Galilee. The disciples gave way to their fear and despaired when it looked as though the boat they were in was going to sink in the storm. They forgot that the human Jesus they saw sleeing in the back of the boat after a wearisome day was also God, who never sleeps. After calming the wind and sea, Jesus asked, "Where is your faith?" Often the same question may be put to the Christian when he thinks hemself abandoned in trouble. We may have faith, but are at a loss to exercise it in trouble. The sermon closes with practical ways in which we can have a faith ready for trouble.
