This is the last in our present series, and one that considers the reference in Revelation 1:16, where John, in his vision, speaks of Christ's countenance, describing it thus - 'His countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength'. With such an expression, John seeks to speak of Christ's glory, a glory with such a light and a brilliance that sums up all His perfections: His wisdom; holiness; justice; truth; moral excellence; goodness; mercy; love; judgement; judgements, laws and much more beside. In other words, everything that He, Christ, is. It should invoke a sense of wonder in us.
Christ comes to us in lowliness. He invites us to come to Him, with kindness, friendship and love. He reaches out to us, not telling us to go away. He guides us as to how we should be, that He might bless us. How much therefore, should we worship in the light of this. |
