All of us face temptations in life. None of us are immune. But how can we meet the challenges of our adversary and how can we be victorious over his attacks? This series of messages based on Jesus' temptation will seek to answer these questions and more. What situations or circumstances are favorable for temptation? What schemes or methods does Satan use against us? What are the solutions or means of countering temptation? But before we answer these questions, we must deal with a more fundamental question or objections about Jesus being our role model. The writer to the Hebrews says that Jesus was tempted in all ways just as we are-- yet without sin. But does the fact that Jesus is both God and man give Jesus an advantage that we do not possess? Is the temptation that Jesus faced real or a farce? After answering these preliminary questions that indeed Jesus could be tempted like us-- and can be our positive role model in overcoming temptation, we begin looking at circumstances, situations, times in which we can expect to be tempted. We can expect temptation after coming off a spiritual high. And we can expect temptation, even though we might be led by the Spirit. In a way, we can expect temptation at any time, any place, any circumstance or situation in life. That's why we need to 'watch and pray, lest we fall into temptation.'
