Saul was Israel's first king. His mind and life were a mess. He couldn't find a way to get his heart right. When Samuel went to Jesse's house to search for a king, the older sons provided very encouraging prospects. Any preacher would have wanted them. God said no! Samuel said, "the Lord hath not chosen these". The youngest and least likely son, David, was called to come from the fields. He was chosen; and, he was "a man after God's own heart".
