On Palm Sunday in our churches we acknowledge when the Lord Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a Donkey's colt.
Now when you study the Gospels in regards to Jesus before the crowd with the Palms, we see that the crowd was joyful but Jesus was sorrowful.
There were Jews in Jesus's day whom looked forward to a Golden Age where Israel would triumph over their enemies. There were Jews that believed that God would send them a Messiah King that would lead them to victory.
Jesus didn't come to Jerusalem that day to be a military King. Jesus was not leading an Army with weapons. Jesus was not going to put down the Romans but rather Jesus was going to allow the Romans to put him down on the ground where He would be nailed to a cross.
At the Passover when thousands of lambs were sacrificed, Jesus was going to become God's Passover lamb to be sacrificed for the sins of all humanity.
Jesus wept that day for many in the crowd had misunderstood the Messiah.
Secondly, many of the Jews had a misplaced Religion.
Thirdly, There were those in the Jewish Nation that missed their opportunity. God was in their midst.
Fourthly, Jesus wept that day because of the manifold Judgement.
Jesus knew the destruction that was to come upon the City of Jerusalem because of the rejection of Him.
What makes you weep as a Christian?
Christians today will weep at a fictional movie but some of them will never weep over a single soul. Some Christians will weep when their sporting team loses but they will never weep over the state of the lost.
We need to be a Church that Sees what Jesus sees.
We need to be a Church that weeps like Jesus.
We need to be a Church that prays like Jesus.
