Why does God allow His children to experience trials, troubles, hardships, stress, and sickness? Why has God allowed this COVID-19 pandemic? As God shielded Israel from experiencing the plagues He brought on the Egyptians, God could shield His children from contracting and dying from the Coronavirus. But He has not. Why? While there is no exhaustive answer as to why God allows believers to suffer, the Bible does give some insight into God's reasoning. God allows us to undergo struggles, adversity, stress so that we might see and experience a side of God we would not see otherwise. For in the midst of our problems, we see God as a God of compassion! His compassion does not move Him necessarily to rescue us, but rather to comfort or encourage us so that we can face life victoriously. God counters our weaknesses with His strength! He encourages us through His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, who is the divine comforter. He encourages us through His Word for it records how God encouraged people in the past as they face difficulties. And God desires to encourage us through others! We are to be 'Encouraged Encouragers'! We are to pass along the encouragement God has given to us to comfort or encourage those who today are facing struggles and heart ache.
