The salutation is a lost art. Most of us never receive letters. The warmest emails we open might being with a quick "hi." Text messages rarely include any greeting; they jump to the point. Salutations, like those found in most New Testament letters seem like museum pieces from another time.
But the biblical salutations are critical messages from God to us. A Salutation is a greeting or blessing. Even soldiers today salute their superiors. The KJV tells us to "salute one another" (Rom. 16:16).
