As we make plans, we say Lord-willing to remind ourselves not to presume in our planning, which is a sin. 1. Do not presume to know things that you cannot know. (v.13-14) a. How your plans will change based on what God will do. b. When your life will end based on God's plan! 2. To prevent presumptive planning say 'Lord willing.' (v.15) a. Not just words, but coach your heart to depend on God. b. Confess to God and yourself that you need God's favor. 3. Presuming leads to saying boastful words. (v.16-17) a. Boasting is evil. b. It is a sin not to do what we know is good to do. c. The path of gospel humility leads to humble planning. Applying: Planning is good and wise, but what attitude turns planning bad?
