In Acts 27, Paul sails on the Mediterranean, but his trip is nothing like a modern cruise. His traveling companions are mainly prisoners, and their vessels hardly qualify as luxury liners. Worse, this group of men is about to be tossed in a violent, life threatening storm without the benefits of life vests and without medication to relieve any sea sickness. Yet from the drama that unfolds in this narrative, we see a wonderful picture of the seamless integration between God's providence and human responsibility. Indeed, the most important lesson related to this passage is that God keeps his word (27:4-26).
