The belief in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ is accepted by almost all denominations considered to be Christian. But while the belief in the Second Coming is almost universal, what comes next after His coming is up for debate. The crux of the debate depends on whether one believes that Jesus Christ will reign on earth for 1,000 years as King in a literal kingdom here on earth, or whether Jesus Christ is spiritually reigning now in heaven with no earthly kingdom to follow. This sermon explores the three major views: The a-millennial view that Jesus is now reigning in heaven with no future literal kingdom on earth; the Post-millennial view that believes that the church will bring in the kingdom after which Jesus Christ returns; and the Pre-millennial view that Jesus Christ will rule over a literal Davidic kingdom for 1,000 years. We come to the conclusion that the kingdom will be indeed actual kingdom and thus the question is asked, 'What comes next?' Daniel 12 reveals a 75 day gap from the end of the tribulation period and the beginning of the kingdom. During this period of time a series of judgments and resurrections will help determine who will enter the kingdom and who will be excluded. The important matter for us is that we recognize Jesus' lordship over our lives today!
