We have before us in this passage the blessing that Moses pronounced upon the people of Israel. This religious and spiritual act of blessing the people of Israel forms an important and wonderful part of God's faithful preservation of the nation of Israel. This blessing comes to Israel through the mediator of the old covenant. God will use this to preserve Israel and in preserving Israel God provides for the coming of Jesus Christ. This mediator brings a new covenant which He Himself keeps and confirms through His own life and death. In this new covenant, we receive blessings that are far greater than the old covenant.
