Humility is greatly misunderstood. It's not viewing ourselves as worms, but rather noting our strengths and weaknesses, and then assuming our rightful place under the mighty hand of God. The mighty hand of God created this universe, delivered Israel from Egyptian bondage, later disciplined Israel when it had forsaken the Lord. The mighty hand of God accomplishes all of God's purposes and plans! God is absolutely sovereign. But how do we humble ourselves under God's mighty hand? We do so through casting all of our care, all of our anxiety upon Him for He cares for us. Anxiety originally meant to 'be drawn in two different directions.' It's what tear us apart on the inside, keeping us up at night. The cure is to cast our cares on the Lord. Desperate, humble people pray! Humble people cast their weakness upon God's strength. We do so for two reasons: First, God cares for us! He knows perfectly what we are facing in life and what we have need of even before we ask. And then secondly, God will exalt in due time! He indeed lifts us up and sustains us in life. So cast your cares upon the Lord and He will sustain you! What an encouragement for those of us living in a Post-Christian world who struggle with anxiety and fear! God cares and will exalt in His time! Trust Him!!
